Our History

Bahm Construction is a family-owned suite of companies with origins dating back many decades. Today, the companies are still owned and operated by family members. Our primary staff members (including all project managers and supervisors) have been with the company for 15-20 years. Maintaining a constant staff has allowed us to execute projects many contractors are unable to pursue.

Since the beginning, we have focused our demolition efforts on projects where the potential exists for salvaging and recycling materials. We have long operated a salvage yard in Silver Lake, KS, where we resell the materials obtained in our construction and demolition projects. In recent years, we have become a broker for nationwide used-material vendors (used brick, used lumber, etc.). This change has enabled us to see what the future holds in reusing and recycling materials of all types.

In 2007, we opened the GreenPoint Construction and Demolition Processing Facility in Topeka, KS, as a solution that will reduce the capacity at our landfills in Topeka and the surrounding areas by capitalizing on the benefits of processing the construction and demolition waste. The material brought to GreenPoint is processed into reusable products that are then resold to the general public. Examples of the processes used to recycle the waste materials into reusable products includes the crushing of concrete, asphalt, and brick products into reusable gravel or base material; the grinding of asphalt shingles to be used in the preparation of road asphalt; and the chipping of wood products to be used for mulch or to be reused in the production of consumer energy. Steps are taken to process every bit of material that enters the facility into a product that can be used by either an end consumer or in the production of a consumable product.
